Episode 337 – Fibonacci cats

This week, Glynn found InstaMuseum, which allows you to create a virtual 3D gallery space in which to display your images.
Glynn’s gallery is here.
Sigma is having more lens issues, this time with the Canon 1Dxii.
Instagram is now offering Business Profiles.
More McCurry bashing.
Use Photoshop to Perspective Adjust a small portion of your image.
A new Model Release App for iOS.
I came across this Ansel Adams doco,
and this amazing body-painting project.
Carl told us about Sigma’s amazing new zoom lens,
and the story behind Neil Leifer’s amazing photo of the Ali/Liston fight.
David Marland brought us the story of the correlation between Fibonacci spirals and sleeping cats.
And Steve Peters brought us the story of the 9 year old who plays the role of Second Shooter to her dad’s wedding photography.

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.

    Hey Bruce and Glynn

    Another great episode.

Horse and Hound – Notting Hill (I’m not proud knowing this)

Photojournalism – I agree that a photojournalist should represent the truth and therefore should not ‘photoshop’ the image in anyway. Having said that the fact a photojournalist frames a photo a particular way to include or exclude other elements can be considered manipulation of the image. Having hosted/escorted photojournalists on deployment I have seen how taking a photo from a particular angle at a certain time of day and excluding other elements that were part of the event represented a completely different message/story when published. Also a photojournalists own prejudices will also impact how the image is portrayed. Though I do believe and agree with Glynn that if you portray yourself as a teller of truth and earn your living as such then don’t be caught manipulating you photos.

    That’s my two bits

    Hi Bruce & Glynn,
Have been catching up on your podcasts and have actually jumped forward to the recent ones, will go back and listen to the older ones later. Love the way you banter with each other and tell it how you feel. Also, I enjoy the wonderful sound quality and the various links that Bruce loads into each podcast.
Hedge for Mac sounds like a great tool and wonder whether they will make a Windows version?
Great discussion re photojournalism and would agree with Glynn’s view – a storyteller is different to photojournalism.
Keep up the great work guys.
