Episode 399 – Vinyl and Cibachrome

This week, Glynn found the AR Studio app but was disappointed with the price (It is iOS, so what did he expect?).
He also came across 17 lighting recipes,
and this shootout between flash and natural light.
GoPro stock price has taken a big hit, and may very well soon be on the receiving end of a takeover bid from Xiaomi.
And check out these amazing composites, which represent hours of sport condensed into one image.
The prize list we have to giveaway for episode 400 continues to grow.
As already mentioned, we have the awesome Gnarbox original. If you want a chance to get your grubby mitts on that, send us your best travel photo or video. You know where to send it.
The good folk at Mindshift have come to the party with one of their newest-to-market bags, the Exposure 13.
And the guys at Black Rapid are throwing in an R-Strap, as well.
Glynn is still on the hunt for more goodies, too!

Adam sent us the story of the fella who bought a 10 year supply of Cibachrome paper when he heard that Kodak was ceasing production. Now, it’s a race against the clock to use the paper up before the chemicals break down.
He also sent us the story of the landscape/wildlife videographer who needed a 20x optical zoom for his work. He challenged Canon to build it, and they did!
And LargeSense unveils the world’s first single shot 8×10 digital camera.

Episode 398 – Interrupting Glynn’s nap

Well, this is just weird. I was just preparing this week’s episode (#399) and realised that THIS episode (#398) never actually released 2 weeks ago when it was meant to! So, looks like you’re getting TWO episodes this week! This one off-schedule, and then #399 on Sunday. Enjoy!

This week, Bruce has finally discovered a Linux app (which also happens to run on Windoze and MacOS) which acts as a Photoshop replacement. Multi-layered documents, vector layers, AND 16 bit file support (which Gimp, sadly, does not support… yet).
The app in question is Krita.
There’s even a section on the page about where Krita is superior to PS.

Rob Coates sent us a link to this video of a drone flight in Russia which alledges to have reached 10,000 meters!
I’m not convinvced it got THAT high, but it certainly was impressive!

Carl has been unfaithful again, listening to OTHER podcasts! Pfft. Really?
He particularly liked this episode of He Shoots, He Draws.

Adam sent us the story of the photographer who sparked an armed manhunt after being mistaken for a ‘sniper’!
And the insect photographer who is suing a pest control company for $2.7 million.

Glynn is pretty excited about the kickstarter campaign for Gnarbox v2.
The guys reached their target in 35 minutes! Pretty impressive!
Also, the lovely folks at Gnarbox are giving us an original Gnarbox to give away alongside episode 400! Woohoo!
We need ideas on how to pick a winner. Throw us your ideas. You know how!

Plus, there’s the story of the Prosthetic Photographer.
I’m still not convinced that this wasn’t an April Fool’s Day joke, although Glynn is of the opinion that it wasn’t.

Sorry gang. Glynn and I weren’t able to coordinate this week. And no, this is not an April Fool’s Day joke!
