Episode 429 – No time for stories!

This week, Glynn was so busy talking about what I’VE been shooting, we had no time to feature any user-submitted stories!

2 weeks prior, I went out on the streets of Sydney to shoot the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade. Or more specifically, the crowd that was watching it.

Then, the following weekend, I went out and grabbed some shots of the Milky Way from The Skillion at Terrigal, here on the Central Coast.

Glynn threatened (last episode) to send me some RAW files to process in darktable.
And he did!

And although we didn’t get to cover the stories, here is what was submitted over the last couple of weeks.

From Adam:
Meyer Optik Gorlitz admits the $3,000 Nocturnus 50mm f/0.95 was just a modified $850 Chinese lens.

I heard about (but have not yet looked at) a new astro e-mag called Dark Sky Travels.

And BoredPanda had “What the world looked like 100 years ago” (in colour).

Rob Coates told us about India’s shameful claim to being the Selfie-Death Capital of the Planet.

And Glynn found this lot:
Insta 360 Evo,
The Queen of the elephants,
People of Cincy, and hey, ya gotta love that back-mounted octobox!,
and Sharpen AI. I just KNOW Glynn was drawn in by the promise of “TACK-SHARP images”. He’s a sucker for that stuff. Every. Single. Time. 🙂

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.

Well Bruce, I’ve framed Episode 429 and mounted it on my study wall because:
    (a) It’s taken you 429 episodes but you finally rendered Glynn speechless.
    (b) In it, Glynn actually said nice things about some of your photos and
    (c) there’s a nasty mark on the wall where a well-aimed shoe dispatched a cockroach and I’ve been looking for something to hide it.
By the way, being a retired TAFE carpentry teacher I can tell you that apart from the well known Terrigal landmark, a skillion is a type of roof which has only one sloping surface (just like Terrigal’s skillion). Sometimes seen where a room’s been tacked onto the side of a house (AKA a lean-to roof) and often seen on holiday houses or ‘weekenders’ because it’s the cheapest and simplest way to frame a roof.
BTW I found the photos of the Queen of the Elephants amazing. Almost worth wasting a bit over an hour and four minutes of my life on. {:-)
    Keep up the good work.
    Rob Coates
