Episode 403 – Guest: Adam Davidson

Moko ImageryThis week, I’m joined by THE Adam Davidson.
Adam talks about his “Black Rock” series of fine art nudes, and the hassles that photographers now face sharing these types of images on social media.
Check out some of Adam’s images via his Moko Imagery Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Adam brought these stories with him:
Time uses 985 drones to create it’s latest cover,
These modded cameras have sensors extracted for extreme cooling,
the Nik Collection is no longer free, but it’s alive,
and the Hasselblad film camera made of Lego!

If you’ve been on shuttersincpodcast.com this week, you may have noticed that I’ve been experimenting with new wordpress themes.
It’s a work in progress, and hopefully, will make the site look a little more current than it’s last iteration.

Along those lines, I really want to start including an image with every post. It’s pretty slack that a photography podcast has not had an image with every post for the last 13 years, I know, but as Bob said, “The times, they are a’changin”.
So, I don’t care what you’ve been shooting this week. But send me your favourite image from the last month. I’ll pick an image to go with each episode’s show notes/blog post.

I also saw this on Facebook through the week: Girt by Sea.
The exhibition will be on in Sydney from June 16-27, 2018, and from the images in the video, looks to be worth a look if you’re in Sydney during that time.

I think we talked about Stephen Wilkes’ “Night and day project” a couple of years ago, but I recently came across this TED Talk, by Stephen, talking about the project.
It’s well worth a squiz.

David Marland shared this story about the photographers trying to get compensation for their work which was appropriated for an advertising campaign without their knowledge or approval.

And Carl advised us to go and have a look at the Instagram account, #whythelongplayface.
Some very clever manipulations of classic album covers.

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.
