Episode 454 – Glynn needs some love

This week, congrats to Peter Eastway and Momento Pro on their print award!
Adam told us about the Fuji lens which went bush for 4 months,
PhotoRec software for recovering images from damaged memory cards,
the photographer who uses clever tricks for extraordinary photos,
and why you really DON’T want to travel through U.S. airports with exposed-but-not-yet-developed film.
Glynn was going to tell us about the Canon 1Dx iii, but lost interest.
From the “just because you CAN doesn’t mean you SHOULD” file, comes the story of the liquid-filled lens,
and there’s Adobe’s future version of LR Mobile for the iPad Pro.

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.

PhotoRec saved me. Did a shoot and when I went to pull the images the card was unreadable. Yea…. It had been corrupting an image now and then but whatever, whats the worst thing that could happen….. I will keep use it as a spare.

Well, I accidentally used it as my primary card on a shoot. The images showed on the lcd just fine as I shot but the card totally failed to mount on my pc or even be recognized in my camera back home.

I tried all the tricks and numerous recovery programs to no avail. I saw that Fstoppers review and tried PhotRec. It ran all night but recovered all 500+ raw files off the card.
