Episode 456 – That’s a LIMERICK, Glynn!

This week, Rakesh and Adam both told us about the oceanographer who also happens to love taking photos underwater, but wasn’t happy with the colour shift and the haze of debris in the water.
So she developed an algorithm that removes the WATER from underwater photos!
It’s crazy cool.
Here’s the video, or if you want Glynn’s totally nerdy white paper, get into that right here!

Steve Peters told us about the designer who built a fully-functional Hasselblad camera entirely from Lego;
the Yunghi Grant, where you could get on the receiving end of a USD$3000 handout! You’ve got ’til December 13, 2019 to get involved;
and if you really want to inspire some lens envy in your fellow photographers, you need this….a giant Soviet spy satellite lens is for sale!

Glynn shared stories about Nikon’s financial woes,
the fact that rumours are starting to circulate (since debunked by Olympus themselves)… is it conceivable that Olympus might shut up shop for good?
If Olympus is to be believed… no. No truth to the rumours. Time will tell, I guess.
And he was also enjoying watching some photographer fails on da toob.
Plus heaps more!

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.

    That ‘Photographer fails’ YouTube’s the best twelve minutes I’ve wasted in a long time. Some classic footage!
