Episode 520 – A plug for Anthony

A quick episode this week to feature an e-mail from Paul, and to give my mate, Anthony from ipanoramic.com.au a bit of a shout-out and to promote his Black Friday sale on panoramic heads. Show him some love if you’re in the market! This week’s image is one that I shot 18 months ago using a Nodal Ninja 3 mk iii panoramic head.

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.

Thank you heaps for the shout out and discussion on the camera I tried out.

You are correct that most of these settings could be adjusted via the menu and other dials. I only had the camera for a short period of time, and was more interested in the output rather than the physical operation of the camera, and delving into the menu settings of the camera, so I went with the way it was presented to me. The Sony rep could not find the adjustment that changed the back button focus, even after a factory reset. The others I just lived with, knowing that somewhere the setting could be changed.

I have since got some of the JPGs back and am still going through them, and they show what I described.

The cameras biggest selling point is the fact it is so fast to shoot, and write to the card, so obviously they wanted this left on, and I can get the call for this, for some users.

Overall I had a good time, and enjoyed the experience.

All the best to you both.

    Paul
