Episode 528 – Back in business

Finally, the technology is in our favour!
A while back, I came across this story of Apple unveiling the winning images from its Shot on iPhone Macro Challenge.

Kevin McKibben sent us a link to DALL-E: AI software which will create a photo-realistic image based on your TEXT!

Carl Hemmings mentioned an ABC Radio National interview with Robert Rosen, who was MC at a nightclub in Boston called the Tea Party, in the late 60’s.
Some of his work is on display at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum in an exhibition called Glitterati until 19th June 2022.

Paul Sutton told us about a couple of stories from LensRentals. One, about the dismantling of a Panasonic lens,
and one about the history of the elements which make up a lens.
A story about a 0-series Leica lens, expected to fetch the big bucks at auction.
Another AI (or is it machine-learning?) software; this one which can erase backgrounds for easy replacement.
And a 4×5 hybrid AF camera with a universal lens mount.

Glynn found this composite of over a million photos (every shot taken by the Hubble Telescope, composited into one image!).
Could this be THE most impressive photographic capture of all time (well, up to this point in time, anyway)?
Or maybe this one? Video of one of Mars’ moons eclipsing the sun, as viewed from Mars.

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.
