Episode 556 – We’re back for 2024!

We are back for the new year, and we are now on youtube, too. It’s audio only, but if that’s your preferred media consumption platform, feel free to subscribe to Shutters Inc right here.

Our good friend, Joe Edelman has written a 4 part essay on the exposure triangle, and why it’s wrong.
Grab a cuppa, put aside half an hour, and sit down and read this!
Here’s the link to part one. The subsequent parts are linked from there.

I’ve just been out shooting with Teigan again, doing an Australia Day-themed shoot… although it kind of grew beyond just that.
Here’s a couple of versions of the first image of the day.
Other images from the shoot are on my instagram.

I’ve also bought myself a Christmas present, in the form of an Asus ProArt (PA279CRV) 27 inch 4k monitor.
It’s a gorgeous panel, Calman-verified, and with a stack of different colour space profiles already built-in.
Only problem is… I need a SECOND one!! Having one monitor 4k and one 1080p is not ideal.
Highly recommended, though!

After ep 555 was published, Philip Johnson sent us well wishes for Christmas and the new year, and a link to the International Landscape Photographer of the Year.
Australian photographer, Tony Hewitt, picked up the top gong.
Check out his images, and the outstanding work of all the other entrants, here.

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.
