Episode 409 – The NBN sounds WORSE!

This week,
Rob Coates sent us the story of the David Malin Awards astrophotography competition.
Some crackin’ images in this lot.
Then he sent us this video of a Royal Queen’s Guard shoving an Asian tourist at Windsor Castle.
And then he blew us away by saying he can’t use the Gnarbox he won!
Say wha???

But Rob van Elven is loving his new camera bag, courtesy of Mindshift.

Last Friday I received the Mindshift bag, that was a prize in Episode 400.
This Saturday morning I gave it a workout to Sydney’s Athol Beach in an attempt to photograph the blood moon.
There were quite a few photographers with the same idea at that crazy early hour (04:00 am).
It was perfect, the camera gear was easy to carry and easy to access in the dark.
Tnx again for organising this. The bag will be my companion on many of my future photo adventures.

Adam sent us this crazy story about Ruben’s paintings being censored on Facebook, along with the humorous video produced in response to that tragedy.
Breakthrough Photography’s new magnetic filters,
the Instagram account which shows how instagram photos look the same,
the sad story that the NY Daily News has let go of all of its photographers,
and the saga of how a photo of a couple kissing in the rain gets a Bangladeshi photographer beaten and fired,

David Marland alerted us to David Honl’s newest addition to his range of HonlPhoto accessories.
And he (along with Rob Coates and Steve Peters) also sent us the Chart of the day, which shows that nearly half of selfie-related deaths are caused by drowning.

Glynn found leaked images of the DJI Mavic 2 with Hasselblad tech,
Nikon discontinues their KeyMission action cameras,
and the number #1 manufacturer for market share of mirrorless cameras in Japan? Canon claims that it’s Canon.
Hey! Want a free photography e-book?
Bugger. You’re too late.
It WAS here. Now it’s not. Well, it’s still there, but you have to pay for it again.
Oh well.
Onward and upward. 🙂

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.

    Bruce & particularly Glynn,
Thanks very much for the Tamron gift bag of items which arrived Wednesday. A diverse set of items which I will hopefully be able to put to good use.
    All the best
    Peter
