Episode 539 – 25 years

This week, we’re marking the 25th anniversary of the death of INXS frontman, Michael Hutchence.

And while we’re on the subject of concert and music photography, Paul sent us a link to the website of Denis O’Regan, who seemed to have access to some big names in the 80’s.

Carl sent us an interesting one… Trey Ratcliff has used AI to generate “portraits” of New Guinea tribes which don’t actually exist. But the images were generated using Trey’s shooting style as a template.

Glynn told us about an incident which occurred at the Black Crowes show in Melbourne last week.

He’s also on a mission to inject a new word into the lexicon of photographers…. the “otheries”. Like a selfie, but taken by someone else on your behalf. Like this one and only image of Neil Armstrong on the moon.

If you are one of those rare people who actually uses the body cap for your camera, then this might interest you.
A body cap with an embedded location-detection device.

Fujifilm in Japan has suspended orders for a two year old camera because demand is outstripping their capacity to deliver. Is it a shortage of parts or an excess of orders?

And 17 years after the last Konica-Minolta camera came off the production line, the end of the brand is finally here.

I have been a professional audio engineer since the mid 80's and am happy to do for free in my spare time what I get paid to do during the week. I created Shutters Inc in May 2005, and it is today (as best as I can tell) THE longest-running photography podcast in the world.
