Shutters Inc – episode 196

This week, we learn that Joe McNally is set to tour to Australia and New Zealand this year!
Let me know if you’re interested in attending the Sydney workshop, as I’m hoping to be able to secure a group discount. No guarantees of course, but let me know if you’re up for it!

Two weeks ago, Chris Belyea and myself, along with model Desiree (of Meetup #15 fame) hired Think Studio for 4 hours to do a glamour shoot.
It was great to be able to take the time to finesse a shot, and experiment with light.
Some of my shots from the shoot can be seen here.
Personally, I really like the last one!

“Slow Bruce” finally discovers something that should have come to him long ago, regarding panoramas, pivot points, and paralax errors.
For the technophiles, read the wikipedia article on parallax errors.
Or for the lounge lizards, check out some youtube vids on same!

Next Friday is Meetup #22 – ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ here in Sydney.
Still looking for a couple more photographers …and a venue!
Sing out if you would like to be involved in any way.

OK, so you want to know how you could win the Wacom Intuos 4 graphics tablet, huh?

Grab yourself this image (9MB, RAW) (36MB, TIF) and retouch it to the best of your ability.
A couple of rules:
a) You must only use your mouse. If you currently own a tablet, you must not use it for this competition. We’re relying on your honesty in this respect.
b) No cropping. Retouch only.

Once you’ve retouched it, resize it to 500 pixels WIDE, and resample to 72 dpi.
Once you’ve done that, send it here.
Shelton and Bruce will judge the entries received.
Deadline to submit an entry is midday (AEST) Monday 19th April, 2010.
Winner will be announced in the next podcast produced after 19th April.
Good luck!

Shutters Inc – episode 090

This week, some more natural light window portraits…

Remember, you have until Wednesday (of this week, Australian time) to get your submissions in to studio@audio2u.com

Also this week, Bruce attempts a bit of DIY sensor-cleaning much to Shelton’s horror!
For those interested in having a go, a couple of sites worth checking out are:

Cleaning digital cameras
Visible dust

My sensor prior to cleaning! Far from perfect, but an improvement nonetheless!

Also, Gary Hegenbart wanted to share a macro he did by reversing his lens.
